Senator Stennis comes to Itawamba County

Senator John Stennis visited Itawamba County during a re-election bid in 1976. Mike had the opportunity to serve as his host during that visit, taking Senator Stennis on a tour of the county. Pictured with Mike and Senator Stennis is Martin Sheffield, an employee of the Itawamba County Times. Yours truly took the photo during a stint as editor of the junior college newspaper.

Penn favors Sen. Stennis? Martin Sheffield?

How old was the Judge in this picture. To meet Senator Stennis must have been a great honor and had to have some inspiration that contributed to The Judges accomplishments?

Don, we were in junior college so it was probably in Spring 1976 when the picture was taken. Mike was 19 years old at that time, and I was a mere child of 18. Don't dare add up those numbers!

I hate to just keep commenting. But I just had to write this. Rene Aven at the ICC Post Office was looking at your blog and said "Hey I thought that was "Tom Cruise" with Senator Stennis (she was serious). I thought I was going to fall out of my chair. Im sure the Judge will love that!!!

From an outsider who doesn't know these people, I thought that was Tom Cruise, too! Aren't you the one, taking photos of Senators? I especially liked the picture because I'm an old printing shop employee.
Thanks.
