'Airship' is a no-show

Local Happenings

A few weeks ago there was a man came to Fulton and arranged with several here to return later with an airship to entertain a large crowd of people who would be here to see and to ride the plane. He collected one or two dollars for advertising space from each individual or firm who went in with him, then after collecting in advance he headed east and has not been seen or heard from since. He had arranged with Sheriff Pearce for a landing field and all matters had been arranged, but he paid no money out. He received several dollars and that was the last of him. He was in a Whippet car and limped when he walked on what he claimed to be a cork leg.

After reading this article, I noticed the date of the headline - wonder what day of the week it was. I was born the next day, Dec. 4,1931.

I can just imagine ol' Cousin Don delighting all these Georgians visiting, learning which cousin # they are. LOL

Let us hope that you two are enjoying all the scenery in and around Perry, Houston County where I seem to remember that they either claim to be the Pecan or Peanut capitol of the world. My most memorable thing about this part of Georgia from the days of 1952 when Ron was stationed at Robbins AFB, south of Macon; the military personnel commonly referred to the base housing area as "Dog Patch" - remember Daisy May and Little Abner? And not to forget, that red soild that turned to slippery clay following a rain and could add a number of inches to ones height! bettye
