When Fessie came home from World War II, he had a surprise waiting for him. While he was serving in the Navy, off fighting the Second Battle of the Philippines from the U.S.S. Reno, Beck built a house! Here are Fessie and Beck standing in front of their new home after his return from war. During World War II, many women joined the armed forces while others went to work in the factories a la "Rosie the Riveter." A great majority of women, however, were at home keeping the families together and taking care of business. The home that Beck had built would remain the family home until their deaths. Well done, Beck!

"The house that Beck built," I can't wait to show this to the girls. What an inspiration, especially in the midst of our current economic situation. This is a very touching story. Talk about a "can-do" attitude! Wow.
Ken, this is my favorite story and picture in Mona's narrative.
Great story and picture,Mona.Don't you know that was a good night's sleep!
Ken, everyone just thought that Fessie was the strong one of the couple, but Beck was the one that got things done!
