School Days 1947

In 1947, James "PeeWee" Robinson completed his coursework at Fulton Grammar School and was promoted to the high school. Note the date on his certificate - April 10th - school let out early in those days. Of course, they probably didn't start school the first week of August either! Hi, so happy that I ran across your blog! I noticed in your list of surnames of interest you have the Hood family name.
I GGG grandparents who lived in Itwamba Co. their names were Osborne/Ausborn & Malissa Jones Hood I have them living there on the 1860 and 1870 census records. They moved to Itawamba Co. from St. Clair County Alabama.
From Itawamba Co. they moved on to Lamar Co. Alabama where they died and are buried.
Also I have a GG grandfather who was born in Itawamba Co. His name was William Henry Harris (born in 1867- died in 1955), his parents were Maldin & Margaret Friday Harris. They all died and are buried there in Itawamba Co.

Tracy, I'm glad you found the Itawamba blogs too! Can you tell me more information about your Osborne Hood? I have two in my database and would like to fill in the blanks for this line. Have you seen the book about Tunis Hood and his descendants? It was written by a Dellwood Osborne Hood. Or Dillman, or something like that!
